Six in Ten Uber Drivers in Brazil Reject CLT Employment, Datafolha Finds

The Uber-commissioned poll lands during a suspended Supreme Court case that could redefine platform work.

Overview

  • Datafolha surveyed 1,800 active Uber drivers nationwide between May and August with a reported margin of error of ±2 percentage points.
  • Sixty percent said they do not want to be employed under Brazil’s CLT rules, 25% would accept formal employment, and 14% were undecided.
  • Asked if they would switch to a signed CLT job for the same net pay they earn today, 54% said they would not.
  • The top policy priority was public support to buy or renew vehicles, cited by 52%, outpacing interest in previdência coverage or training programs.
  • With the STF’s employment-status case paused, 56% reported uncertainty about the future, and half said they would seek other autonomous work if a CLT link were mandated.
