Six Countries Share Top Spot in Henley Passport Index 2024

France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain now have the world's most powerful passports, with visa-free access to 194 destinations.

  • Six countries now share the top spot in the Henley Passport Index 2024, with their citizens able to visit 194 destinations around the world without a visa. These countries are France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain.
  • The United Arab Emirates has seen the biggest climb on the index over the past decade, adding 106 destinations to its visa-free score since 2014, and earning it 11th position this year.
  • India's passport ranks 80th globally, allowing Indians to travel visa-free to 62 countries.
  • The UK now ranks joint fourth (access to 191 destinations), while the US retained joint seventh place (188 destinations). A decade ago, the two countries shared the top spot.
  • Afghanistan sits at the bottom of the ranking with access to just 28 countries without a visa.
