Overview
- On July 25, the Secretariat of Transportation added four national routes (24, 160, 166, 168) and two provincial routes (338, 406) in the Buenos Aires metro area to the open-payment SUBE network.
- Passengers can pay with contactless Visa and Mastercard debit, credit or prepaid cards, NFC-enabled phones or watches, QR codes from the SUBE or BNA+ apps, or the physical or digital SUBE card.
- The fare remains identical across all payment methods and subscribers using SUBE continue to access local subsidies and discounted transfers.
- This rollout is part of the public transport modernization drive under Decree 698/2024 and is coordinated by the Transportation Secretariat with the Central Bank, Banco Nación and Nación Servicios.
- To board, riders must inform the driver of their destination and tap their chosen device on the validator or present a QR code to the lower scanner on the fare machine.
