Overview
- Operations on 9 October in Sandhurst and Emalahleni secured a Sandhurst property estimated at R70 million, three Lamborghinis worth about R25 million, household contents of roughly R3 million, and attached Aston Martin, Ferrari and Rolls-Royce vehicles at a Mpumalanga dealership that provided R35 million in surety.
- The Special Tribunal granted a preservation order on 29 September, expanded on 7 October, to safeguard about R900 million in alleged proceeds, with the SIU indicating further actions will roll out across additional sites and provinces.
- An SIU interim report identifies at least three syndicates alleged to have misappropriated over R2 billion from Tembisa Hospital, with the Maumela-linked network handling roughly R816 million through about 41 suppliers and asset pools flagged at around R520 million including high-end vehicles valued at R223,598,516.
- The preserved assets will remain under curator control pending up to 41 main civil recovery proceedings the SIU must begin within 60 court days, after which the assets could be forfeited to the state.
