Overview

• An OPS officer in a marked cruiser tried to stop two men riding e‑bikes at high speeds near Carling Avenue and Moodie Drive at about 8:18 p.m. on Aug. 7.
• The men fled onto a bike path beside Carling, where one e‑bike struck a 28‑year‑old cyclist who was hospitalized with serious but non‑life‑threatening injuries.
• The SIU says the e‑bike riders were not seriously hurt in the collision.
• Ottawa police notified the SIU on Aug. 22, and the agency has assigned three investigators to the case.
• The SIU is asking anyone with information, photos, or video to contact the lead investigator by phone or online, and no findings or charges have been announced.
