Sitharaman Opens Rs 632-Cr Riverfront Projects in Guwahati, Tours Tata’s Rs 27,000-Cr Chip Unit

  • On a two-day tour, the finance minister visited Tata Electronics’ OSAT project at Jagiroad, which her office says targets up to 48 million chips per day using flip-chip and ISIP packaging.
  • She inaugurated the Gateway of Guwahati terminal and jetty and the Brahmaputra Riverfront at Sati Radhika Udyan, together costing Rs 632 crore, including an all‑weather floating terminal with e-ticketing and control systems.
  • Addressing students and entrepreneurs at the ‘Enterprise Assam – Viksit Bharat 2047’ event, she urged youth to pursue ventures as the OSAT ecosystem develops suppliers and local opportunities.
  • The state says she will lay the foundation stone on November 8 for the Swahid Kanaklata Barua State University at Gohpur, a greenfield project pegged at about Rs 500 crore.
  • Assam officials also flagged upcoming visits: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is slated to attend an Indian Air Force airshow in Guwahati on November 9, and the prime minister is scheduled to inaugurate the new LGBI airport terminal and launch the Namrup fertiliser project in December before returning in January to open the GuwahatiNorth Guwahati bridge.
