Sitharaman Opens AI Skilling Hub in Nagaland, Launches New SASCI Projects

The moves signal a shift from pledges to on-the-ground delivery across skills, finance and connectivity in the Northeast.

Overview

  • The Finance Minister inaugurated the AI Centre of Excellence for Skilling at NTTC Dimapur and witnessed MoUs with Cyient Tech to expand training and industry linkages.
  • She reviewed capital works under the SASCI scheme and launched two projects in Phek and Zunheboto, with officials citing Rs 3,577 crore for 340 projects in Nagaland since 2020–25.
  • At NIELIT Kohima, she witnessed an MoU with Tata Semiconductor ATMP focused on Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging to build local semiconductor talent.
  • She virtually opened nine bank branches across Assam, Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, while a Credit Outreach in Kiphire disbursed Rs 28.02 crore to 350 accounts.
  • Her visit also featured the rollout of the SAMARTH school innovation model, certificates for Army Educational Corps trainees in cybersecurity and the inauguration of the Kiphire ITI with SBI CSR support.
