Sitanshu Kotak Appointed as India’s Batting Coach After Poor Australia Tour

The former Saurashtra captain will start his role with the upcoming white-ball series against England, replacing assistant coach Abhishek Nayar.

Sitanshu Kotak, a former Saurashtra player and experienced coach, has been named India’s batting coach following concerns over the team's batting performance in recent series.
Kotak replaces assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, whose role came under scrutiny after India’s disappointing 1-3 series loss in Australia and a home whitewash against New Zealand.
The appointment begins with the home white-ball series against England starting January 22, featuring five T20Is and three ODIs, and will continue through the Champions Trophy next month.
Kotak brings extensive coaching experience, including stints with India A, the National Cricket Academy, and as interim head coach for India’s T20I series in Ireland in 2023.
This decision reflects the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) efforts to address technical issues in the batting lineup, as highlighted by experts and former players.
