SIT Files 3,900-Page Chargesheet in Dharmasthala Case, Names Complainant and Activists

Investigators allege fabricated evidence under BNSS provisions, with further filings pending forensic results.

Overview

  • Filed in the Belthangady court, the report names six accused: CN Chinnaiah, Mahesh Shetty Thimmarodi, Girish Mattannavar, T. Jayanth, Vittal Gowda and Sujatha Bhat.
  • The charges cite multiple BNSS sections tied to false and fabricated evidence, forgery and related offences, with the court to consider cognisance.
  • The SIT says the skull produced by Chinnaiah was that of a 32-year-old man and was supplied to him by others, forming the basis for perjury and conspiracy allegations.
  • Excavations earlier found a male skeleton and, more recently, eight skulls and other remains at Bangalagudda, all sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis.
  • The submission spans about 3,900–4,000 pages detailing searches at 17 sites; the government has cleared the filing and the SIT has sought time and directions with supplementary reports to follow.
