Overview
- Investigators said the five-member Special Investigation Team found that the accused driver, Kalyan Bainsla, intentionally rammed his car into biker Shivani Chauhan on September 13, based on helmet-cam, other biker footage and CCTV.
- The police prepared a draft chargesheet that retains Sections for attempt to murder, stalking, insulting a woman’s modesty and common intention under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and plan to file it within the statutory deadline to block default bail.
- Bainsla and his cousin Lavnish were arrested in Dausa, Rajasthan on September 15 and remain in judicial custody after their bail pleas were rejected; both deny the hit was deliberate and say the collision was accidental.
- Investigators found no proof of intoxication at the time of the crash, but technical evidence showed the accused visited a nightclub before the incident and that two other occupants given a lift to Faridabad are not implicated.
- The case was triggered by Chauhan’s helmet-camera video going viral, which led police to register a suo motu FIR and prompted an SIT probe that focused on technical tracking and multiple camera feeds to establish intent.
