Overview

• The incident occurred on September 5 at a farm in Somanahalli Chipagi near Sirsi, Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka.
• CCTV footage shows the seven-year-old pulling the trigger on an air gun held by caretaker Nitish Gouda at close range, after which the boy collapses.
• Sirsi Rural Police booked Gouda, 40, and visiting farm owner Raghav Hegade, 62, on charges including murder and violations under the Indian Arms Act for alleged unlicensed possession.
• In her complaint, mother Pavitra Basappa Undi alleged Gouda had earlier scolded the children and that Hegade procured the air gun for driving away monkeys.
