Overview
- Broadcaster Sir David Attenborough was voted Best/TV Presenter at the National Television Awards, defeating nominees including Ant & Dec, Alison Hammond, Claudia Winkleman and Stacey Solomon.
- Attenborough did not attend the ceremony and his long-term collaborator Mark Brownlow collected the prize as a letter from Attenborough was read aloud urging action to protect the planet.
- The BBC Studios Natural History Unit confirmed Attenborough will narrate Blue Planet III later this year, extending his long association with the Blue Planet franchise.
- The result continues the break in Ant & Dec’s long run of NTA presenter wins that lasted from 2001 to 2024 and was first ended in 2025 by Gary Lineker.
- The awards were held at London’s O2 with Joel Dommett hosting and other early winners included Clarkson’s Farm, Emmerdale’s Jeff Hordley and comedian Alan Carr.
