Singapore Tourism Recovers Strongly in 2023

Visitor arrivals increase by 115%, driven by demand from Indonesia, China, and Malaysia.

  • Singapore saw a 115% increase in the number of visitors in 2023, from 6.3 million in 2022 to 13.6 million, meeting the Singapore Tourism Board's (STB) forecast.
  • The increase in visitor arrivals was driven by strong demand from Indonesia, China, and Malaysia.
  • Tourism receipts for 2023 are expected to register between S$24.5 billion (US$18.2 billion) to S$26 billion, exceeding STB’s forecast.
  • Visitors spent more time in Singapore compared to before the pandemic, with the average length of stay in 2023 being approximately 3.8 days.
  • STB expects the tourism sector’s recovery to continue in 2024, driven by improved global flight connectivity and the implementation of the mutual 30-day visa-free travel between China and Singapore.
