Overview
- Former President Ram Nath Kovind launched the Responsible Nations Index on January 19 at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.
- The index was developed by the World Intellectual Foundation with academic collaboration from JNU and methodological validation by IIM Mumbai after a three-year exercise.
- Singapore leads the inaugural ranking, followed by Switzerland, Denmark and Cyprus, with India placed 16th out of 154 countries.
- The report draws on public data up to 2023 from bodies including the World Bank, UN agencies, the IMF, WHO and FAO, operationalised through seven dimensions and 58 indicators.
- Notable placements include the United States at 66th, China at 68th, Pakistan at 90th, Afghanistan at 145th, with the Central African Republic at the bottom.
