Overview
- The Singapore Police Force said on Sep 4 that ads touting a “JBSG Housing Subsidy Program” or “Free Homes Across the Causeway” are part of an online ruse.
- The ads link to WhatsApp chats where victims are told to submit identification numbers, residential addresses, email addresses and other personal details.
- Some victims were instructed to transfer money for supposed legal or stamp duties, or to hand over cash to unknown individuals.
- Police cited a document used in the scheme that carried forged signatures of the Singapore and Malaysia prime ministers, with claims about subsidised units in Iskandar Puteri.
- Authorities stressed the offer is untrue and urged the public not to share personal information or make payments, noting $456.4 million was lost to scams in Singapore in the first half of 2025.
