Singapore Navy Launches First Multi-Role Combat Vessel, Victory

The modular, electrified warship will undergo outfitting and trials as the six-ship class moves toward deliveries from 2028.

Overview

  • Designed as a mothership for unmanned aerial, surface and underwater systems, the MRCV expands the Republic of Singapore Navy’s surveillance and operational reach.
  • The 150m, roughly 8,000-tonne vessel combines frigate-level capabilities with advanced sensors and weapons including a Strales 76mm guided gun and ASTER surface-to-air missiles.
  • A DSTA-developed combat management system integrates sensors and weapons, enabling high-end warfare and command-ship roles.
  • Eight containerised mission modules allow rapid reconfiguration for tasks such as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, and automation supports a pioneer crew of fewer than 100.
  • Built by ST Engineering under a 2023 contract using digital twinning, Victory shifts to Gul Yard for integration and sea trials, with the class set to replace ageing missile corvettes from 2028 while retaining their names.
