Singapore Navy Launches First Multi-Role Combat Vessel, RSS Victory

The 150-metre ship begins outfitting ahead of a class entering service from 2028 to replace ageing missile corvettes.

Overview

  • Launched on Oct 21 at ST Engineering’s Benoi Yard, the lead vessel will shift to Gul Yard for outfitting, systems integration, sea trials and acceptance testing.
  • Designed as a mothership, the MRCV will deploy and control unmanned aerial, surface and underwater systems to extend the navy’s surveillance and operational reach.
  • A reconfigurable mission bay can embark eight containerised modules to switch quickly between roles, including medical support for humanitarian relief.
  • Advanced sensors and weapons, including a Strales 76mm guided gun and the ASTER surface-to-air missile system, enable high-end warfare and command-ship duties.
  • High automation and the RSN’s first electrified propulsion cut crew requirements and provide about 30 megawatts of power for propulsion and combat systems.
