Singapore Navy Commissions First Two Invincible-Class Submarines

The advanced vessels enhance maritime security and mark a significant technological upgrade for the RSN.

The RSS Invincible and RSS Impeccable were commissioned at Changi Naval Base in a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
Built by Germany's Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems, the submarines are designed for Singapore's shallow, warm waters and feature state-of-the-art capabilities.
The Invincible-class submarines offer 50% more underwater endurance and enhanced ergonomics, including accommodations for female submariners.
These submarines will play a crucial role in safeguarding Singapore's sea lines of communication and contributing to regional security.
Two more Invincible-class submarines, Illustrious and Inimitable, are under construction and expected to be operational by 2028.
