Singapore Launches Five-Year SG Youth Plan

The plan aims to help young Singaporeans test careers, build practical skills, strengthen social ties, receive targeted financial support.

Overview

  • The plan, which launched on Saturday, July 25, sets more than 20 initiatives over five years to reach at least 500,000 people aged 15 to 35.
  • A one-stop Discover portal went live at launch and the plan commits to more than 10,000 job-taster stints in 2026 with a goal of up to 30,000 per year by 2030, including roughly 500 public-sector placements for youth aged 15 and above.
  • An Adulting 101 programme for students in institutes of higher learning will begin in the second half of 2026 to teach practical topics such as financial literacy, healthcare, housing and relationships.
  • Targeted measures include $500 curiosity credits for 13–17-year-olds supported by self-help groups, a $20 million youth project fund, 12 new 'third spaces' by end-2026 and more than 100 subsidised co-living units from private operators.
  • MCCY and the National Youth Council say the plan was co-created with over 60,000 young people and will be monitored and adjusted to address skills mismatches and youth concerns about cost pressures and fast economic change.
