Overview

  • Passenger-carrying autonomous shuttles are slated to begin fixed-route services in Punggol by the end of 2025.
  • The Ministry of Transport and LTA are negotiating with global and local operators, including Waymo, Pony.ai and WeRide, on vehicle types, routes and fare structures.
  • Approved safety protocols mandate onboard safety officers, bright vehicle liveries and controlled, ‘manageable’ speeds.
  • The phased rollout will first supplement Housing Board estate services, with potential night-bus operations by mid-2026 and expansion to Tengah in early 2026.
  • New roles such as onboard assistants, fleet managers and remote operators will be created alongside reskilling programmes for existing drivers.
