  • A 35-year-old American man and a 30-year-old American woman were arrested July 22 for allegedly stealing three bottles of perfume, a card holder and another perfume from The Shilla outlets in Terminals 1 and 3, with all five items recovered.
  • A 38-year-old Indian man was arrested on June 1 while transiting through Changi Airport after allegedly stealing perfumes, cosmetics and bags worth S$5,136 from 14 shops at Jewel and the airport’s transit area.
  • The American duo were scheduled to face shoplifting charges on July 23 and the Indian suspect is due for theft and fraudulent possession charges on July 25.
  • Close cooperation between airport police and retailer staff using CCTV reviews and rapid stock audits enabled the identification and interception of offenders before departure or upon return.
  • Police have reiterated that boarding a flight will not shield offenders from prosecution and have vowed ongoing collaboration with retailers to deter high-value transit thefts.
