Singapore Airlines Profit Slumps as Air India Losses Hit Results

The carrier is maintaining shareholder payouts despite the earnings hit.

Overview

  • Half-year net profit fell about 68% to S$239 million for the six months ended Sept. 30, missing consensus estimates.
  • SIA’s share of results from associates plunged by S$417 million, reflecting losses at Air India, which SIA began accounting for after the Vistara integration in December 2024 and in which it holds a 25.1% stake.
  • For the quarter, net income dropped 82% year on year to S$52 million as revenue rose 2.2% to S$4.9 billion.
  • Total expenditure increased by S$170 million on capacity growth and inflation, while interest income declined by S$103 million due to smaller cash balances and rate cuts.
  • The board declared an interim dividend of 5 Singapore cents per share plus a 3-cent interim special dividend, and SIA flagged a special-dividend framework of 10 cents per share annually over the next three financial years as it reported record quarterly passengers and strong Scoot load factors.
