Overview

  • Net profit dropped to S$186 million in the quarter ended June 30, down from S$452 million a year earlier.
  • The decline was driven by lower interest income on reduced cash balances alongside equity-accounted losses from its 25.1% stake in Air India.
  • Operating profit slid 14% to S$405 million even as group revenue rose 1.5% to S$4.79 billion and passenger volumes reached a record 10.3 million; yields slipped 2.9%.
  • SIA cautioned about persistent industry volatility: geopolitical tensions, macroeconomic shifts and US cargo tariffs.
  • Following Jetstar Asia’s exit, SIA and its low-cost unit Scoot will launch services to Labuan Bajo, Medan and Okinawa this month, with Da Nang, Kota Bharu and Nha Trang planned later in the year.
