Sinfield Passes £777,777 Goal on Day Five of 7-in-7 MND Run

The week-long tribute raises money for MND in memory of Rob Burrow through a highly visible, community-led series.

Overview

  • On Friday, Kevin Sinfield completed the Workington-to-Whitehaven stage in Cumbria, part of seven ultramarathons in seven days across the UK and Ireland.
  • Donations have exceeded the £777,777 target, with reports ranging from roughly £780,000 to about £813,000 by late Friday.
  • England rugby head coach Steve Borthwick, who is from Carlisle, joined sections of Day 5 as large crowds and local groups lined the route.
  • The challenge uses hourly 7km blocks and includes a daily "Extra Mile" so people affected by MND and their carers can participate.
  • Funds will be split among six charities, including the MND Association, Leeds Hospitals Charity’s Rob Burrow Centre and the My Name’s Doddie Foundation, with a Carnoustie-to-Dundee leg on Saturday and a Headingley finish on Sunday.
