Sindh Orders Foolproof Security and Service Continuity for 12th Rabi‑ul‑Awwal

Officials say the move aims to protect participants by coordinating police, Rangers, municipal crews, utility teams, with continuous on‑site monitoring.

Overview

  • On Saturday, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi chaired separate meetings that directed police, Rangers, district administrations and municipal agencies to implement a coordinated security and traffic plan for 12th Rabi‑ul‑Awwal processions and gatherings.
  • The chief minister formally ordered K‑Electric, Sui Southern Gas Company, the Water Corporation and other utility providers to remain on alert and ensure uninterrupted electricity, gas and water at mosques, imambargahs and along procession routes.
  • Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board were tasked with special cleanliness drives and speedy repair of damaged roads, blocked drains and overflowing sewer lines to keep procession routes and public spaces clear.
  • Prominent ulema from multiple schools of thought attended the meetings to present suggestions and to help organisers coordinate events, with officials stressing the role of religious leaders in promoting inter‑sect harmony and orderly conduct.
  • Officials ordered that all arrangements be completed before the observance and continuously monitored, saying extra patrols and utility crews will remain on standby to reduce the risk of service outages or crowd‑safety incidents.
