Sindh Cabinet Approves Mandatory Motor Insurance, Digital Land Titles and TCF’s 21-School Takeover

Cheaper, faster claims for crash victims remain the focus, with support measures to be rolled out by the Excise Department.

  • Mandatory third-party cover is slated to be enforced from the next financial year, with legal amendments to the Motor Vehicles laws to be tabled in the Sindh Assembly.
  • Affordability and claims access will be strengthened through a stamp duty cut to Rs50, a sales tax reduction to 5%, standardized premiums, facilitation desks, a 24/7 helpline and surveyor support.
  • Motorcycles are proposed to be exempt from the mandatory insurance requirement under the amendments under consideration.
  • The cabinet cleared amendments to enable blockchain-backed digitisation of land records and e-transfer of titles, referring the bill to the Assembly after pilots in Matiari and Sukkur.
  • Agreements with The Citizens Foundation will place 21 municipal schools in Malir, Chanesar and Lyari under its management for 25 years, with immediate renovation and free education for students.
