Sinaloa Raids Seize 16,665 Liters of Meth Precursors as 13 Sites Are Shut, Officials Say

The seizures target synthetic-drug production under a MexicoU.S. border security campaign.

  • Mexican officials reported 13 concentration areas for synthetic-drug production were located and disabled in Culiacán and Cosalá, with a reactor seized and an estimated 337 million pesos in economic impact.
  • In Badiraguato, troops seized a long gun, five magazines, 1,142 cartridges and four improvised explosive devices, while a prison inspection in Culiacán yielded phones, drugs and other contraband.
  • Cumulative results since February 5 include 9,128 detentions, 6,921 firearms, 1,192,948 rounds, 31,808 magazines, 5,622 vehicles, 1,096 properties and about 109.8 tonnes of assorted drugs, including roughly 494 kilos of fentanyl.
  • Other November 18 actions included a kilogram of heroin seized in Playas de Rosarito, Baja California, and arrests with meth doses in Cajeme and Hermosillo, Sonora.
  • In Abasolo, Tamaulipas, authorities detained four people and secured firearms, 17 magazines, 75 cartridges, a monitoring center, a motorcycle and two vehicles as part of the ongoing operation involving 10,000 federal personnel.
