Sinaloa Cartel Security Chief 'El Nini' Arrested in Mexico

U.S. Seeks Swift Extradition of Accused Fentanyl Trafficker and Violent Criminal

Néstor Isidro Pérez Salas, known as 'El Nini', a top security chief for the Sinaloa Cartel, was arrested in Mexico on Wednesday.
El Nini is accused of leading the 'Ninis', a violent group of security personnel for the Guzman brothers, also known as 'Los Chapitos'.
El Nini is wanted in the U.S. on charges of conspiracy to import and distribute fentanyl, and is also accused of a series of violent crimes, including the torture and murder of rivals and police.
U.S. President Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland have praised the arrest and thanked Mexican authorities for their efforts.
The U.S. is now seeking El Nini's swift extradition to face justice in the United States.
