Simu Liu to Star in and Produce 'Sleeping Dogs' Movie Adaptation

The Marvel actor aims to revive the cult-classic video game with a film, potentially paving the way for a long-awaited sequel.

Simu Liu has confirmed he is working with the rights holders to develop a live-action adaptation of the 2012 video game 'Sleeping Dogs.'
Liu will star as Wei Shen, the game's undercover cop protagonist, and also serve as a producer on the project.
The film is being produced by Story Kitchen, known for its work on other video game adaptations like 'Sonic the Hedgehog' and 'It Takes Two.'
Liu has expressed his hope that the movie's success could lead to a sequel to the original game, which was canceled after the closure of its developer, United Front Games.
This is the second attempt to adapt 'Sleeping Dogs' into a film, following a stalled effort in 2017 that involved martial arts star Donnie Yen.
