Simone Rocha, the Dublin-born fashion designer, debuted her spring 2024 collection as Jean Paul Gaultier’s next guest creative director.
Rocha's collection was a blend of her own brand's signatures and Jean Paul Gaultier’s sacred house codes, resulting in dramatic silhouettes and epic proportions of tulle and silky fabrics.
Rocha was the second female to have the opportunity to helm Jean Paul Gaultier Couture, out of seven guest designers.
The collection was centered around flowers and conical corsets, with Rocha interpreting the thorn from the rose as a new conical in the collection.
Rocha's collection was her first-ever Paris couture collection and was received with raucous cheers from the audience, proving her designs resonate with people who occupy the liminal space between overt girlishness and a Gothic kind of darkness.
