Simone Mendes Faces R$1.3 Million Lawsuit Over Alphaville Wall Collapse

Emergency repair orders and fines remain in force as a special appeal heads to the Superior Tribunal de Justiça.

Overview

  • A civil suit filed by guitarist Léo Stuart and his company Black Diamond Holding seeks R$1.3 million from Simone Mendes for damage after a wall collapse that sent mud and debris into the neighboring Alphaville property.
  • A court-appointed engineering report found the wall at Simone’s construction lacked drainage and proper lateral support and said saturated soil from heavy rains made the structure act like a small earthen dam that helped trigger the collapse.
  • The court ordered work on Simone’s site stopped and required reconstruction and restoration within 30 business days, with a R$2,000 daily fine capped at R$200,000 for noncompliance.
  • Simone’s team has submitted a private technical report blaming defects in the neighbor’s wall and argues the event was caused by exceptional rains and by the contracted builder, and they say she paid for initial cleaning of the damaged property.
  • Her appeals were unanimously denied at the Tribunal de Justiça de São Paulo and embargos were rejected, and in August 2026 her lawyers filed a Recurso Especial seeking STJ review while the main damage claim and enforcement of emergency measures remain pending.
