Fontecchio averaged 15.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 16 games with the Pistons last season.
He shot 42.6% from three-point range, ranking 10th among players with 75+ attempts post-All-Star break.
The Pistons acquired Fontecchio from the Utah Jazz at the 2024 trade deadline.
Detroit's new coach, J.B. Bickerstaff, plans to integrate Fontecchio into the rotation.
The team has also signed Malik Beasley and Tobias Harris, and traded for Tim Hardaway Jr.
