Silver Alert Spurs Third Day of Search for At-Risk 73-Year-Old in Santa Cruz Mountains

Deputies focus on the Moore Ranch–Smith Grade area, urging residents to review security footage, check outbuildings, and report sightings.

  • Jeanne Burke, 73, was seen around 3 p.m. near Felton Quarry walking toward Empire Grade Road and at 4:30 p.m. in the Moore Ranch Road area on Nov. 18.
  • The California Highway Patrol issued a Silver Alert for Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Monterey counties due to medical risk.
  • Roughly 80 to 100 search-and-rescue personnel from multiple counties are operating with BAMRU, Cal OES, Civil Air Patrol, CAL FIRE Bonny Doon, Red Cross, ARES, and canine teams.
  • Residents near Smith Grade and Moore Ranch roads are asked to review camera footage, search sheds and other outbuildings, and allow access for search teams.
  • CHP believes she is on foot; she was last seen in a red-and-black plaid jacket, black pants, and mismatched sandals, and tips should be called to 831-471-1121.
