Silk Way West Firms Options, Lifts A350F Order to Four at Dubai Airshow

The expanded deal positions the Baku-based carrier to introduce its first Airbus freighters for a lower-emission fleet.

Overview

  • Silk Way West signed a firm contract for two additional A350F freighters on November 19, taking its total commitment to four.
  • Deliveries are planned for 2027–2028, with Airbus targeting A350F entry into service in 2027 subject to certification.
  • The A350F is specified to carry up to 111 tonnes over about 8,700 km with Rolls‑Royce Trent XWB‑97 engines and supports up to 50% SAF use at entry into service.
  • The carrier currently operates 12 Boeing freighters, and the A350Fs will be its first Airbus aircraft as it pursues fleet modernization and lower emissions.
  • Airbus highlighted the order as reinforcing Azerbaijan’s cargo hub ambitions, and recent A350F momentum includes Air China Cargo’s purchase of six aircraft on November 14.
