Silicon Ranch to Build 100-MW Orangeburg Solar Farm to Power Meta’s First South Carolina Data Center by 2027

The deal routes solar output plus RECs through regional co-ops to support Meta’s sustainability goals in South Carolina.

Overview

  • Silicon Ranch will fund, build, own, and operate the Orangeburg County facility in coordination with system balancer Santee Cooper.
  • Central Electric Power Cooperative will purchase the output for its 19 member co-ops, while Aiken Electric Cooperative will serve the Meta data center in Sage Mill Industrial Park near Graniteville.
  • Meta will receive all renewable energy credits from the project to advance its 100% sustainability target.
  • The installation is the 18th project in the Silicon Ranch–Meta partnership, representing more than 1.5 GW of capacity and contributing to over $2.5 billion of investments across four states.
  • Silicon Ranch projects more than $100 million in capital investment and over $8 million in local tax revenue, with land managed under its Regenerative Energy program and most equipment sourced from U.S. manufacturers.
