Siksika Nation Man Charged With First-Degree Murder in Weekend Hit-and-Run

Following the vehicle’s recovery, the RCMP Major Crimes Unit is holding the suspect pending a Drumheller court appearance.

A 27-year-old resident of the Siksika Nation has been charged with two counts of first degree murder following a fatal hit and run on Saturday.

  • Twenty-seven-year-old Adolphus Weaselchild faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder in connection with the July 26 collision.
  • A vehicle struck five pedestrians near 9:30 p.m., killing two Siksika Nation residents aged 27 and 45 and critically injuring a 45-year-old woman while two others escaped unharmed.
  • The RCMP Major Crimes Unit led the investigation, recovered the damaged vehicle on Monday and arrested the suspect that evening.
  • Weaselchild remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Drumheller; police have not disclosed a motive.
