Sikkim Rapper UNB Assaulted by Group in Arunachal

Poor network in remote terrain is hampering the police probe.

Overview

  • UNB and his manager were allegedly attacked by eight to ten men on Monday evening near Tiwari Gaon while returning from the Anini Winter Festival, according to police and the rapper’s team.
  • The assailants reportedly followed UNB’s vehicle in two cars, concealed the number plates with mud, blocked the road and struck the rapper and his manager with metal rods before fleeing when a truck approached.
  • UNB suffered head and facial injuries including swelling around one eye and has been medically examined and described as stable, while his manager also received treatment for injuries.
  • A FIR has been registered at Roing police station under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police have revisited the scene, alerted check posts and launched searches but no arrests have been made so far.
  • Investigators say the probe is constrained by the isolated location, poor mobile connectivity and lack of eyewitnesses, and police have not confirmed a motive though UNB and his team point to an unproven social‑media 'cold war' with a local rapper as a possible lead; the incident has renewed concerns about performer safety on remote Northeast routes.
