Overview

  • At the Australian Swimming Trials in Adelaide from June 9 to 14, Toohey posted a 1:06.55 time in the 100-metre breaststroke to eclipse Leisel Jones’s 1:07.31 mark from 2005.
  • She overcame winter training hurdles in Albury by relocating to Canberra for six weeks ahead of the Trials due to her hometown’s lack of an indoor pool.
  • Her record-breaking swim secured her first selection to the senior Australian Dolphins team.
  • Toohey will join roughly 2,500 elite athletes at the World Championships in Singapore from July 11 to August 3.
  • The championships will feature six aquatic disciplines, including swimming, water polo and high diving, across the Singapore Sports Hub and Sentosa venues.
