Overview
- Renewing an earlier October 31 target, the chief minister directed GBA chief Maheshwar Rao and senior urban development officials to close all remaining potholes within seven days, citing recent heavy rains for delays.
- Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar said more than 10,000 potholes have been filled so far, recalling a court-monitored affidavit under the previous government that counted about 20,000 citywide.
- Shivakumar said a DPR is being prepared to white-top 500 km of roads at an estimated Rs 4,000 crore, promoting the method’s 25–30 year lifespan for improved durability.
- Ongoing works include 148 km of white-topping in progress, Rs 1,800 crore for 83 roads, black-topping on 182 roads covering roughly 350 km at Rs 695 crore, and Rs 1,100 crore sanctioned to asphalt 550 km.
- The government highlighted new governance steps such as the Greater Bengaluru Authority and five municipal corporations, a citizen photo-reporting system for issues, and a broader Rs 1.2 lakh crore city program while asserting limited support from the Centre and claiming the state funds 87% of the Metro.
