Overview

• The fire started at around 1.20pm in a shop with flats above that is undergoing renovation on Blackfen Road.
• London Fire Brigade mobilized 12 engines and roughly 80 firefighters from Eltham, Lee Green, Sidcup and East Greenwich stations.
• A 32-metre turntable ladder is being used as a water tower to tackle flames at height.
• The blaze engulfed the ground floor, first floor and roof of the building, spreading to part of an adjacent roof.
• No injuries have been reported but bus services are disrupted and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
