Overview

  • A fight broke out halfway through the July 21 AirAsia A320 flight from Kuala Lumpur to Chengdu after a male passenger asked three women to quiet down when cabin lights were dimmed.
  • Video footage shows a woman in a green outfit leaning across seats to repeatedly strike the male passenger as cabin crew wrestled to restore order.
  • The flight departed Kuala Lumpur at 6:11 pm and landed on time at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport at 10:13 pm, where security officials were waiting to question those involved.
  • Investigators from the Sichuan Provincial Public Security Department have opened an inquiry into the mid-air altercation.
  • No injuries or arrests were reported after landing and AirAsia has not issued a public statement on the incident.
