SIAPA Schedules Major Water Shutoff Across 892 Guadalajara Neighborhoods for Jan. 3 Maintenance

The utility moved the annual work to winter to curb demand-driven strain for a smoother recovery.

Overview

  • The shutdown begins Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026 at 1:00 a.m. and is expected to last about 13 hours.
  • Service will pause in 892 colonias supplied by the Miravalle and Las Huertas treatment plants, including 205 in Guadalajara, 65 in Zapopan, 247 in San Pedro Tlaquepaque, and 375 in Tonalá.
  • Block interruptions are planned for Tlajomulco, El Salto, and Juanacatlán, with residents advised to expect low pressure or temporary loss of water.
  • A parallel intervention at the Chapala pumping plant substation is scheduled, which SIAPA says is critical to avoid a potential system collapse.
  • Restoration will be gradual from Saturday night through Wednesday, Jan. 7, depending on topography and operations, with free water trucks available via SIAPATEL (073) and SIAPA’s official X and Facebook accounts.
