Overview
- Restoration of the Seiden exterior was finished inside the 25-meter temporary roof and opened to the press on August 6, 2025.
- Dismantling of the protective superstructure began in June and has accelerated following the façade unveiling.
- Under the government’s “visible reconstruction” policy, more than 5.2 million visitors toured the restoration site by the end of June 2025.
- Officials expect the full exterior to be exposed by late October 2025, allowing the public a complete view for the first time since the 2019 fire.
- Once the roof is removed, work will shift to rebuilding corridors and connections as the project advances toward its autumn 2026 completion.
