Shovel Knight Joins NecroDancer With New Crypt Character and Rift Music Pack

Released on PC now with Switch versions to follow, the crossover pairs character-driven gameplay in Crypt with a Rift music pack that includes a free main theme.

Overview

  • Brace Yourself Games rolled out Shovel Knight content for both Crypt of the NecroDancer and Rift of the NecroDancer on October 30.
  • In Crypt, Shovel Knight is a playable character who moves in eight directions and uses a pogo-style Shovel Drop to bounce across enemies and walls.
  • Chaining Shovel Drop hops builds a damage-boosting combo and can dig through floors to open shortcuts, with stronger shovels replacing traditional weapons.
  • Rift adds a Shovel Knight music pack featuring five new paid Rhythm Rifts by Jake Kaufman, plus a free “Main Theme” track available to all players.
  • Both DLC packs are live on Steam now, while Nintendo Life reports Switch releases are planned for a later date; the base games remain available on Switch and PC, with Crypt also on PlayStation and Xbox.
