Shotgun Seized After Sydney Pursuit as Three Charged and One on the Run

Detectives say the stolen SUV bore hallmarks of an organised-crime 'kill car'.

Overview

  • A student’s report of four balaclava-clad occupants in a black Mercedes SUV in Greystanes prompted a police response on Monday evening.
  • Police allege the vehicle fled at up to 80 km/h in 50 km/h streets before striking a parked car in Merrylands West, after which three suspects were caught with help from PolAir and the dog unit.
  • Officers recovered a loaded shotgun under the driver’s seat and two jerry cans from the rear, and checks showed the SUV was stolen from Balwyn in Victoria.
  • The arrested men, aged 19, 20 and 22, were charged with weapons, pursuit and stolen-vehicle offences, refused bail, and are due at Parramatta Local Court today.
  • The fourth occupant remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous as investigators probe possible links to organised-crime ‘kill car’ activity.
