UC San Diego announced on Dec. 9 that Shoei Darvish has committed to the Tritons via the program’s official social media. Darvish, the son of Padres pitcher Yu Darvish, competes for Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego. He is a pitcher and outfielder, with Prep Baseball Report listing him at 6-foot, 190 pounds. PBR metrics note a fastball up to 91 mph and a curveball in the 76–80 mph range. UC San Diego included him in its 2026 signing class of eight newcomers, and the Tritons enter next season after a 26-25 campaign and a 2023 Big West title under 15th-year coach Eric Newman.
