  • On June 14, veteran leader Sikandar Singh Maluka was re-inducted into the Shiromani Akali Dal and assigned to spearhead the Ludhiana West campaign.
  • Earlier this month, former ministers Sohan Singh Thandal and Anil Joshi also completed their ghar wapasi to the party after brief departures.
  • The SAD has nominated advocate Parupkar Singh Ghuman to oppose AAP’s Sanjeev Arora in the June 19 by-election.
  • Sukhbir Singh Badal positions the party as Punjab’s only regional alternative, pledging to restore peace and development and challenge what it describes as AAP’s corrupt governance.
  • Party morale and organizational strength are on the line as SAD seeks cohesion after last year’s expulsions and dwindling assembly representation.
