Shinde Orders Rail and Metro Links to Mhatardi Bullet Train Station

The proposal now moves to an NHSRCL feasibility review followed by ministry scrutiny.

Overview

  • At a high-level review at the MSRDC office, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directed planners to connect the upcoming Mhatardi station with Thane and Kopar railway stations plus the Taloja Metro.
  • MahaRail presented a conceptual plan detailing route options to tie Mhatardi into nearby suburban rail and metro nodes for smoother transfers.
  • NHSRCL responded positively to the state’s proposal and will forward it to the Ministry of Railways for further examination and approvals.
  • The Mhatardi station, located near Diva in Thane district on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad high-speed corridor, is envisioned as a multimodal hub linking bullet rail with suburban trains, metro, buses, and highways.
  • Officials say the integration is expected to cut travel time to the high-speed terminal and ease pressure on suburban corridors across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, subject to clearances and implementation.
