Shin Godzilla 4K Remaster Arrives in North American Theaters
Pre-orders have launched for a limited Steelbook 4K Blu-ray release ahead of a late 2025 HBO Max streaming debut.
Overview
- GKIDS began screenings of the new 4K remaster on August 14, 2025, presenting the original Japanese-language version with subtitles and restored text cards in theaters across North America.
- Retailers including Walmart and GRUV are offering pre-orders for both a collector’s Steelbook edition and a standard 4K UHD Blu-ray, with limited quantities expected to sell out.
- The 4K Blu-ray editions feature bonus content such as promotional video collections, making-of documentaries, deleted scenes, outtakes, news reels, previs reels and visual effects breakdowns.
- This marks the first North American release of the film’s native 4K master, which Toho and GKIDS say preserves Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi’s intended narrative impact.
- A 4K streaming premiere on HBO Max is slated for late 2025 or early 2026, extending the film’s availability beyond its theatrical and physical home-video runs.
