Shillong Bans Traffic at Police Bazar, Launches Vendor Relocation and Urban Upgrades

- Vehicular movement in Khyndailad is restricted from 7 AM to 9 PM every day, with only residents holding official passes and school drop-off vehicles permitted and holidays reserved for emergency access.
- The Shillong Municipal Board has begun collecting resident details to issue one vehicle pass per household for those living along the pedestrianized stretch.
- Beautification works including new signage, tile repairs and a comprehensive visual uplift are set to be visible within two weeks.
- The MUDA complex will receive 15 new washrooms, drinking water stations and upgraded lighting as part of the Phase 1 relocation of 282 certified street vendors.
- Under the urban upgrade scheme, individual vendors will receive Rs 10,000 cheques on August 5 followed by scheduled monthly allowances.
